Bellroy x Carryology Travel Essentials

Continuing to expand upon our Carryology Essentials (CE) product family, we’re adding two more pieces to complement the collection and welcome in some travel inspiration. 

We partnered up again with our Aussie friends down at Bellroy for our fifth and sixth CE products together, selecting two best-in-class favorites of our Carryology team and Carryology readers. 

Introducing the Bellroy x Carryology Toiletry Kit Plus and Travel Folio.

So first off, what exactly is this “CE program”? Well, it focuses on what we deem are essential products for every type of Carryologist. Products that round out our carry quiver, from EDC items to travel items, and more. And each CE release is carefully chosen because it’s “best in class”. The leading pieces of gear in essential categories, hand-picked and taken to the design table and reimagined. In this case, we have two products focusing on travel organization for you jet-setters. Two pieces with real smarts built in, paired with sleek and minimal lines that not only carry your travel necessities but blend into any scenario.

TRAVEL ESSENTIALS SELECTION

Our Tech Kit and Pencil Case are great for both EDC and travel, crossing that invisible line. These pouches have logged tens of thousands of air miles with me, visiting several continents, helping me optimize my tech and photography accessories. They’re my go-to items, always packed and ready to go.

Our goal this time was to create a laser-focused travel-specific product.

TRAVEL FOLIO

Passport carry is essential when it comes to international travel, so we selected our favorite Bellroy passport travel wallet. In fact, it’s better than just a wallet. It’s Bellroy’s Travel Folio. With the ability to carry 2 passports, RFID shielding, more card slots than we could ever fill, and of course… that amazing little pen (with refill!) for filling out customs forms while you’re landing at your destination (putting you way ahead of the long line of folks who didn’t have a pen on the plane).

Whether you’re going away for 1 day or 100 days, we all need toiletries. At least… we highly recommend you use them. Often referred to as a Dopp Kit, these are a combination of medicine cabinet, self-care and grooming items, and survival kit. We’ve all been using this kit for ages now. For me, I’ve owned and used one for years. Bellroy’s Toiletry Kit Plus. A tiny bit bigger and more feature-rich than the regular size, it offers a magnetic toothbrush compartment, and tons of organization for all the small items you can think of. MINIMAL AND SLEEK

Just like our Tech Kit and Pencil Case, we wanted these two new products to earn themselves a spot in the collection and the first way to do that is via aesthetics. The concept is simple: all-black with smooth lines on the exterior, high-vis and playfulness on the inside, with a little luxe on the accents. 

BELLROY’S QUALITY LEATHER

We say it every time, one of the single most important parts of any softgoods product is the material selection. If you’re like me, when I hear the word “Bellroy”, you think world-class leather. So for these next two products, leather had to be a major role player in the bill of materials and at all interaction points.

On the Toiletry Kit Plus, we swapped out the regular synthetic webbing loops with two loops of luxurious leather.

Both products use leather zipper pullers with just a hint of orange stitching. 

And, of course, Bellroy’s premium, environmentally certified leather will only get better with age.

AUXIKKO INTERACTION POINTS

Specifying leather on the bill of materials (BOM) is great, but like our previous products, we went with custom materials. Using the same water-resistant leather we developed with the tannery, both products feature a unique embossed leather for excellent handfeel, grip, and aesthetics. This leather is deeply embossed with our custom Carryology Auxikko pattern, recognizable from recent collaboration products and previous Bellroy x Carryology CE products.

The Auxikko pattern combines two distinct inspirations: the ancient Japanese Kikkō pattern, based on the nested hexagons of turtle shells, and the modern engineering concept of auxetics, structures or materials that transform under pressure for incredible strength and performance. This fusion of tradition and innovation, science and art, achieves a perfect balance.

You’ll find the Auxikko pattern debossed on the leather grab loops of the Toiletry Kit Plus and the interior large passport wall panel of the Travel Folio.
