Bellroy Tokyo Work Bag

Best New Gear - Bellroy Tokyo Work Bag

Inspired by Tokyo’s urban style and clever use of space, the Bellroy Tokyo Work Bag thoughtfully organizes daily work items while its clean and understated style adapts to both formal and more casual workspaces. The wide opening provides easy access to all your gear, while an assortment of interior and exterior slip and zip pockets keep items tidy. Features include a side water bottle pocket and a padded 16″ laptop sleeve, along with multiple carry options including a detachable padded shoulder strap, soft rolled-edge webbing handles, and a luggage handle passthrough. The bag is made with 100% recycled external fabric and linings, eco-tanned leather detailing, and a water-resistant main zipper for peace of mind when showers strike during your commute.

DSPTCH x PSA Capsule Collection

DSPTCH x PSA Capsule Collection

Are you a card collector looking for a sleek and dependable way to carry your precious cargo? You’re in luck with the DSPTCH x PSA Capsule Collection. DSPTCH teamed up with PSA (the biggest trading card, autograph and memorabilia authentication and grading service in the world) to create a customized capsule collection specifically for the modern card collector. The capsule includes the Utility Tote and a new large size of the Unit Sling Pouch, each with customized card slab pockets designed with protection and easy access in mind. Both bags are made in the USA using weatherproof fabric, military-grade hardware, and an adjustable quick-release sling strap.

Mission Workshop x Afterschool Projects Stratus Collection

Mission Workshop x Afterschool Projects Stratus Collection

The creative minds at Mission Workshop in San Francisco have teamed up with the Afterschool Projects team in Los Angeles for their sophomore collaborative efforts. This time, the two companies took inspiration from the organic clouds you might see in the sky and applied it to X10 cotton-faced waterproof fabrics. Each piece is hand-dyed using a special technique developed by ASP.

The star of the collection is the Stratus Rucksack, an 18L backpack with a padded internal laptop sleeve, compressible main storage, exterior pocketing, and water bottle holders on each side. It’s available in three colorways: blue, purple, and black.

You can see this treatment in the rest of the collection as well: the Toro Handlebar Bag, Saccoche, Saccoche Grande, and Small Utility Pouch. In addition to the carry options, fans can pick up a Long Sleeve Tee or water bottle for those workouts.

The James Brand Palmer

Best new gear - The James Brand Palmer

The Portland, Oregon designers at The James Brand just dropped their latest offering, the Palmer. This time, they turned their focus on the venerable utility knife. An upgrade to the lowly box cutter, the Palmer comes in six different colorways via its aluminum handles. It measures just 4.1″ x 1.5″ and an impressive 0.4″ thin. The primary focus the team had when designing the Palmer was ease of operation and blade changes. They nailed both points as there is a smooth blade action when deploying or retracting. And they implemented a patent-pending mechanism for tool-free blade release when slid into the center position.

Weighing just 2.5 ounces and small enough to slip into your coin pocket, this is a great solution for anyone who needs to open small packages or just needs a utility blade in their everyday carry.

Just in time for raining season and chilly days, Ten Thousand dropped three new outerwear pieces. In order of warmth and weight, they are the Lightweight Tech Jacket, Midweight Tech Jacket, and the Insulated Tech Jacket.

Starting with the Lightweight Jacket, we find a water- and wind-resistant shell made of 85% nylon with 15% spandex for stretch while you move. MODL Infinity Tool

Best new gear - MODL Infinity Tool

MODL are a Denver-based brand dedicated to creating adaptable gear that helps you explore more, whether that’s your local neighborhood or adventures in the wild. And modularity is key for adaptability. But you’ve got to do it right. So they created the Infinity Tool. A multifunctional gear tie that’s just as easy to wear on your wrist as it is to secure on a pack or stash in your car, so it’s always there when you need it. A cinchable gear tie, carabiner, bracelet, and fidget toy in one, the uses for the Infinity Tool are almost endless. Temporary fix for a broken shoe strap? Secure two boats together? Hook quick-access gear to your pack? Carry extra gear on your bike frame? No problem. And as a bonus, the straps can be linked together, giving even more flexibility for a range of uses.

The Infinity Tool comes in two lengths (8 inches and 16 inches) and has a pull strength of 70 lbs. Plus each wrap of the tool increases the pull strength, so two wraps would offer 140 lbs of strength, three wraps would offer 210 lbs of strength, and so forth. It’s also built to last using food-grade platinum silicone and 304 stainless steel.

Huckberry x Merrell Moab 3 Smooth GTX

The highly popular Merrell Moab gets a Huckberry makeover just in time for your fall adventures. The Huckberry x Merrell Moab 3 Smooth GTX offers a range of features including a breathable and waterproof GORE-TEX membrane, Vibram soles, and a zero break-in design so you’re good to roam right from the first wear. The collab also features recycled materials, an understated “Aluminum” colorway complemented by retro blue laces, plus an additional pair of laces.

Prometheus Design Werx Ti-Line Insulated Ramen Bowl

VSSL First Aid Stash Collection

VSSL First Aid Stash Collection

VSSL’s new collection takes their signature, water-resistant, military-grade aluminum cylinders and pairs them with multiple end cap options, in a variety of sizes, to allow users to fill up with their favorite essentials. They all share the signature red colorway and users have the option of compass and/or light caps and two sizes. Depending on the configuration, the Stashs are filled with three or four storage tins, from small to size extra-large. These tins allow users to customize their tubes the way they want, based on their needs. Alternatively, VSSL also sells pre-made refill kits in the same sized tins, for an easy build-your-own option.

Matador Beast28 Helium

Matador Beast28 Helium

Matador took their award-winning light-framed pack, the Beast, and shaved some noticeable weight off it for their Helium edition. Constructed from 70-denier UHMWPE reinforced ripstop Nylon, the Beast has a strength-to-weight ratio many times greater than steel. The Helium holds on to the unique flexible frame suspension while allowing the user to pack down and stow the backpack for travel.

In addition to the fabric upgrade, Matador also added PU-coated YKK sealing zippers, as well as small visual changes such as a blacked-out logo, reflective paracord exterior zipper pulls and red interior zipper pulls. Rounding out the features are an internal hydration sleeve, two water bottle pockets, an adjustable sternum strap, and a removable hip belt.

High Camp Torch Flask

Best new gear - High Camp Torch Flask

The team at High Camp have positioned themselves as leaders in the world of high-end camping flasks, in just a few short years. Their latest release, the Torch Flask, shrinks things down a bit. The Torch Flasks are made of 100% stainless steel and are available in four colorways (gunmetal, copper, British racing green, stainless steel) and hold 6 oz of liquid. The cap attaches magnetically and doubles as a shot glass, holding 3 oz. The bottom is knurled and is completely removable for easy filling and cleaning. The aforementioned tumbler, which they call a “sipping shot glass” is also double-wall insulated so it performs just as well for warm beverages. Hot cocoa, anyone?

Osprey Zealot and Mutant Climbing Packs

Osprey Zealot and Mutant Climbing Packs

Known for their backpacking bags, folks sometimes forget that Osprey makes some incredible climbing packs. Case in point, they just released two new lines: the Zealot and Mutant. First up, the Zealot consists of a 45L and 30L bag as well as the Chalk Bucket and Chalk Bag accessories. The Zealot series represents Osprey’s first packs specifically designed for the rock climbing gym (but they also work equally well for crag climbers). The Zealot packs feature an EVA-molded back panel and HDPE framesheet. Inside, the Zealot features compartments to keep chalk and sweaty climbing shoes separate from your daily essentials and strategically placed zip pockets to stow additional gear.

The Mutant series was created for Nepalese mountaineer and Osprey Ambassador Nimsdai “Nims” Purja MBE and his team who were the first to complete a winter summit of K2 without supplemental oxygen. This line is designed for technical alpine-specific adventures with its Dual ToolLocks, rope carry, snowshed back panel, glove-friendly buckles and strippable features. In addition to the 90L, the Mutant is also available in 52, 38, and 22-liter sizes. They all deliver alpine-, rock-, and ice-focused solutions for climbers.

GiantMouse GMF4

GiantMouse GMF4

Introducing GiantMouse’s first “camp” style knife and their largest blade to date, the GMF4 is a fixed blade knife made of Bohler N690 steel and measuring 5.65″ long. The GMF4 is available in Red Canvas Micarta with a PVD stonewashed blade, and a Double Black Canvas Micarta with a stonewashed finished blade.

Designers Ansø and Vox had utility in mind when designing the GMF4. The lanyard hold is positioned to provide a more secure grip when working in the outdoors. The incredibly comfortable handle, flat saber blade grind, and jimping in key areas means users can get a firm purchase on the knife, vital for heavy-duty work. The GMF4 has an overall length of 10.45″ and weighs just over 8 oz.

Rumpl x Carhartt Collaboration

Rumpl x Carhartt

Just because the chilly weather is setting in, it doesn’t mean you can’t embrace outdoor adventures. Rumpl and Carhartt have teamed up to create a limited-edition capsule collection that’s all about staying cozy outdoors. Pieces such as the Rumpl x Carhartt Sherpa Puffy Poncho and Sherpa Puffy Blanket are perfect campsite companions when the air is crisp and the nights draw in early. Made with post-consumer recycled ripstop polyester, these pieces are both insulating as well as water and stain-resistant. So you can embrace nature in all its glorious forms, from lazy picnics in the park to long nights by the campfire.

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Unbound System

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Unbound System

The trick to navigating long periods of time backpacking outdoors as easily as possible? Having a dialed-in selection of essential gear that keeps you functioning without weighing you down unnecessarily. So Hyperlite Mountain Gear created the Unbound System, an ultralight backpacking kit consisting of three key essentials. Specifically, a backpack, tent, and sleeping quilt. The Unbound 40 is a 40L roll-top pack made with DCH50 for the main body and DCH150 on the base. Honed for thru-distance hiking, it offers a selection of useful features while remaining lightweight. The Unbound 2P is an ultra-light two-person tent suitable for three-season use. Lastly, the 20-Degree Quilt features 1000fp RDS-certified Grey Goose down in three-dimensional baffles, with a 7D micro-ripstop nylon shell for breathability and compression.

Tracksmith Eliot Runner

Tracksmith Eliot Runner

Running is a great way to experience nature and exercise in one, healthy for both the mind and body. And the Tracksmith Eliot Runner is a solid pair of running shoes to help you eat up those miles. The brand’s first running shoe has been carefully designed with performance and minimalist style in mind. Materials such as a Pebax® footbed and midsole, engineered mesh uppers, and soft suede collars provide comfy cushioning, high-energy return, and durability in one. All backed by the option to return them after 30 days or 100 miles (whatever comes first) if you aren’t digging them. So there’s no reason not to hit the ground running with these.

Travel

Taiwan’s boutique camera brand, Wotancraft is back at it again with a new variations on their much-loved Pilot Series. This time, they’re releasing smaller variants of one of our favorite camera bags ever; the Wotancraft Pilot. The 7L and 10L Pilot camera bags have been in use by the Carryology crew forever, and we continually hear praise from members of the team.

Smaller Siblings for Lighter Days

The new Pilot 2L and Pilot 3.5L take everything we love about their larger siblings and shrink it down to a lovely size for single body and lens, or compact shooters. For size reference, I was able to fit a large mirrorless body and any lens except a super telephoto in the 3.5L. The 2L easily fit a compact mirrorless with most reasonably sized lenses. Depending on the size of your gear, and how you want to orient it, both sizes come with a divider which I found handier in the 3.5L.

While the main compartment is where you’ll be storing your camera, the only other built-in storage are slip pockets on the back and front of the bags. Both have a zippered pocket on the backside, with a waterproof zipper. Under the front flap, the 2L has an open top pocket, while the 3.5L uses a zipper like the larger Pilots. You won’t fit much in these compartments, but they’re great for a lens cover or extra SD cards. Extra batteries would probably be better served inside the main compartment using one of Wotancraft’s many inserts.

Wotancraft Pilot 2L
Wotancraft Pilot 2L and 3.5L

Mostly everything continues to scream “this is a Pilot”, but the biggest change to the silhouette comes in the form of the removal of the side pockets. It’s a reasonable change, as those pockets start to be unwieldy on such small bags, or just useless if they’re too small. Their removal opened up the opportunity to move the typical PALS of the Pilot series to the sides, where I think they’re much happier on these two. This lets you attach any number of Wotancraft’s wonderful pouches, like a lens cover case or zip pouch. The ability to add more storage is welcome.

Wotancraft Pilot 3.5L

The new Pilot 2L and Pilot 3.5L are not only great camera bags, but they’re also great camera cubes! That was one of the most pleasant surprises I came across in my time testing them out. I’m not sure if they were designed with this in mind, but they were easy to shove in any backpack or larger bag and they offered peace of mind with their beefy and well-padded construction. Once you get where you’re going, pull it out and you have a wonderful sling to go about your day with.

Pilot Line Updates for 2022

Not only are we getting new sizes, but we’re getting a few small updates for the entire Pilot line of camera shoulder bags. It goes without saying that these are all welcome updates, and we’re happy to see them become standard features. To put them right in front of you, these updates are a new quick-adjust strap with a very nice red leather pull, and the change to Fidlocks being the default on all models. You’ll see these changes on the Wotancraft Pilot 2, 3.5, 7, and 10.

Adventurous Camera Bags for All Shapes and Sizes

The new Wotancraft Pilot sizes were a nice surprise when we heard about their development. While we’ve obviously sung the praises of the 7 and 10, they are a bit big; full kit-type bags. As cameras and equipment continue to shrink in size rather than grow, the smaller offerings are a smart move. Personally, I’ve fallen in love with the 10L and 3.5L Pilots – they’re the perfect size for those little-bit-extra days, or on the flip side, those little-bit-less days. Goldilocks sizes, if you will.

No matter your kit, it’s now (finally) true that Wotancraft has a bag for every shape and size. Check them out on October 28th, direct from Wotancraft.

]]>
Over the past few years, Western Rise has garnered an impressive reputation in the men’s apparel sphere. The key to their success? Creating innovative products that focus on simplicity in design, versatile functionality, and timeless style. And their latest project turns their innovative eye towards the rain jacket. The Western Rise Meta Shell is designed to straddle travel, outdoor, and everyday use. With a nifty carry trick up its sleeve to boot. So, is it worthy of your consideration? Let’s get into the details…

Western Rise Meta Shell

Identifying a Problem…Or Several

Western Rise realized that many rain jackets are lacking across several design factors. They can lack breathability. They might restrict your movement. The style points can be few and far between. Not to mention many have a crinkly rustling noise accompanying your every step. So they wanted to rethink what a rain jacket could be. Not just a functional layer offering protection from the elements. Instead, they wanted to create the most versatile jacket on the market. Bold, to say the least.

Western Rise Meta Shell

The Solution

So how would Western Rise create this game-changing jacket? By rethinking every element from the ground up. The Meta Shell packs in an impressive range of features. Naturally, waterproofness is key. So the jacket offers 10k waterproofing with a C0 DWR finish. But it’s also stain-proof; handy for keeping laundry to a minimum on your travels or throughout the week.

Western Rise Meta Shell

Wearer comfort was important too. So they’ve created a 3-layer jacket that provides 4-way stretch, moisture wicking, and 10k breathability, while still being durable enough for daily and outdoor use. The active fit also moves with the wearer, so you can stay agile on the go.

Western Rise Meta Shell

They achieve all of this through the use of Meta Cloth, a custom 3-layer fabric featuring a 4-way stretch knit polyester outer that’s soft yet durable. The interior 4-way stretch polyurethane membrane provides protection from the elements while enabling breathability. The inner lining is a soft, 4-way stretch polyester jersey that wicks moisture.

Western Rise Meta Shell

As an added bonus, Meta Cloth is sustainably made and Bluesign approved. And for added peace of mind, the jacket also features bonded taped seams and a YKK AquaGuard front zipper to keep water at bay.

Western Rise Meta Shell

Sleek Style for Everyday Wear and Beyond

The Western Rise Meta Shell uses a soft, matte fabric that offers sweatshirt comfort with understated style. Plus with a tailored and logo-free design, the jacket blends unobtrusively into a wide range of environments.

Western Rise Meta Shell

Wear it on city streets, hiking backcountry trails, or during a run or cycle. Whether you’re working out or wandering the globe on your travels, the low-key style looks the part. And with no annoying crinkle noise from the fabric, it’s even easier to stay low-key and stylish, wherever the day takes you.

Western Rise Meta Shell

Keeping the Essentials Close

A good rain jacket should let you keep your essential gear secure but close at hand. The Western Rise Meta Shell does a solid job here, offering five zippered pockets to store your small daily, trail, or travel gear on your person.

Versatile rain jacket

No Detail Overlooked

Western Rise have carefully considered every element of the Meta Shell for performance. Thoughtful details like a drop tail, adjustable cuffs, high neck, and hood with hidden cinch offer added protection.

Rain hood

The jacket comes in a range of sizes and three colorways (black, blue grey, and navy). And it’s backed by a lifetime guarantee so you can feel confident venturing out near and far with the Meta Shell.

Adjustable cuffs

Rethinking Jacket Carry

Sometimes you want a jacket with you just on the off chance it might rain. But carrying one usually involves wrapping it around your waist or shoulders if you don’t have a bag to stash it in. So Western Rise came up with a clever alternative.

Convertible jacket to sling

The Meta Shell packs into its own pocket to convert into a sling bag with a waterproof exterior pocket. Yes, you read that right. Not only does this present an easy way to carry your jacket, but it also offers convenient storage for EDC or travel essentials.

Western Rise Meta Shell

All-Rounder Innovation

The Western Rise Meta Shell looks set to do what the brand does best. Rethink what wardrobe staples can be, blending technical performance, innovative carry, and versatile style in one. If you think the Meta Shell could be a good fit for your needs, check out Western Rise’s Kickstarter campaign to learn more.

Bellroy have a chic new selection of cases for the iPhone 14. Part of the range is a new fully-compostable Bio Phone Case, along with updates to Bellroy’s Mod System cases, allowing you to mix and match colorways. Designed to be composted at the end of its life, it will break down in around six months and leave no toxic residue. You can also pair your iPhone 14 with the Mod Phone Case + Wallet. Each can be used individually or together, allowing you to tailor to changing carry and color preferences throughout the week.

Mujjo iPhone 14 Cases

Mujjo iPhone 14 Cases

The London-based accessory maker was not just one of the first on the scene with cases for the new Apple iPhone 14, but they also improved on their case design for the 14. The new cases now support MagSafe charging, have machined metal buttons (which are also dyed to match the leather color), and are now using Ecco leather from the Netherlands.

In addition, the interior is lined with Japanese microfiber that is both strong and lightweight, adding padded comfort for the iPhone. A raised bump around the rear camera protects the protrusion and the aforementioned vegetable-tanned leather will patina over time, developing a beautiful finish. The cases are available in three colors (Tan, Black, Monaco Blue) and all sizes of the iPhone 14 are supported.

Urban Armor Gear iPhone 14 Cases

Urban Armor Gear iPhone 14 Cases

UAG has a number of cases to protect the new iPhone 14 series. This year’s cases put an added emphasis on durability and user convenience and the new MagSafe design allows for convenient accessory carry. The user has lots of options here. Existing cases like the Grip, Duo, and Organicore have been updated for the new iPhone 14 but Incipio has also introduced a few new designs. The Forme is a slim case featuring nature-inspired designs. The AeroGrip is the result of extensive research around a superior grip experience and in-hand feel. Lastly, the Idol offers ultra-slim construction and improved Impact Struts technology.

Orbitkey Ring v2

Orbitkey Ring v2

The original Ring was Orbitkey’s take on the classic split-ring keyring we’re all used to. Their take was to save our fingernails from getting chewed up and chipped through painful interactions with the coiled metal loops. Redesigned and greatly improved for 2022, v2 of the Ring features an all-metal design (getting rid of the plastic pull-down system), a patent-pending locking mechanism that is much easier to operate compared to its predecessor, and a wider opening to fit more keys and car fobs. It’s available in four finishes: black, silver, rose gold, and yellow gold.

Urban

Mission Workshop Sansom : SD

Mission Workshop Sansom : SD

The Sansom is Mission Workshop’s take on the rarely seen and underappreciated long-sleeve button-up shirt jacket. Using precision Prym snaps, the Sansom : SD can be worn as an overshirt or on its own. Made in New York City from a stretch cotton fabric by Texil Santanderina in Spain, it features a DWR finish and camo print design made especially for MW. Aquascutum x master-piece Collaboration

Aquascutum x master-piece Collaboration

Aquascutum and master-piece have teamed up on a series inspired by the theme of “water shield”, the original concept of Aquascutum. A deft blend of master-piece’s signature functionality and Aquascutum’s club check fabric, the collaboration spans both bags and apparel. Two shirts and two coats give you stylish and practical wardrobe options for everyday and weekend wear, while a choice of three bags provides flexible carry options. The 2Way Backpack, 2Way Tote Bag, and Front Pack all feature master-piece’s original “MASTERTEX” fabric, created with durability and protection from the elements in mind. And for a classy pop of character, the lining uses Aquascutum’s signature 100% cotton club check pattern.

Western Rise Evolution Chino

Western Rise Evolution Chino

A twist on their new Evolution Pant, the new Western Rise Evolution Chino offers the same fit but with a different pocket layout and small tweaks that make it a better choice, perhaps, for dressier occasions. It features four-way stretch nylon and spandex for that perfect fit and all-day comfort, a new TechFit stretch waistband, two hidden zippered pockets to keep valuables secure, a PFC-free durable water repellent finish, and a lightweight fabric that packs smaller than a t-shirt so there’s no excuse to not bring them on a trip.

Orbitkey Desk Mat Slim

OrbitKey Desk Mat Slim

Fans went wild for Orbitkey’s Desk Mat offerings but many have been demanding a longer, thinner design, and the Australian company have just delivered. The Desk Mat Slim measures 31.4″ long by 12.2″ wide. It is offered in two finishes (black and stone) and features a document hideaway to store loose papers and notes, a magnetic cable holder to keep cables in place, an anti-slip backing to reduce sliding, and a reversible orientation to support both right- and left-handed users.

Mack Weldon Radius Flex Pant

Mack Weldon Radius Flex Pant

Mack Weldon calls their new Radius Flex Pant the new do-it-all pant built for 24/7/365 wear. That’s not just a mouthful but it’s also an ambitious claim, but we think it has what it takes to back it up. For starters, the Radius is made from Mack Weldon’s proprietary Radius fabric, a four-way stretch, water-, wind-, and stain-resistant performance fabric that is sleek enough for the office but comfortable enough for off-duty wear. The pant features an ergonomic gusset for a greater range of motion, reflective accents for commutes by bike, and seven pockets so there’s a secure home for anything you want to stow. It’s available now in four colors.

Western Rise StrongCore Merino Hoodie Sweater

Western Rise StrongCore Merino Hoodie Sweater

A refresh on a fan favorite, the StrongCore Merino Hoodie is a super soft, odor-resistant, and temperature regulating take on the classic wool sweater. Perfect on its own or as a light layer, the StrongCore is a piece you can wear day in and day out that won’t show signs of aging or odor. Due to the nature of merino wool, frequent washes are not required nor recommended, which means less wear on the garment and the environment.

Western Rise Adapt Quarter Zip

Western Rise Adapt Quarter Zip

The Adapt is WR’s take on a classic style with some modern improvements. Built with four-way stretch, it’s also water and stain-resistant, temperature regulating, breathable, and incredibly soft. Available in a full size run and in two colorways (black and anchor), the Adapt is just as at home on travel and to dinners as it is on the trails and golf course.

“A Repair Project” from Reigning Champ

WHR Repair Project

We love it when companies upcycle and repurpose goods, and keep sustainability in mind. This time, the Canada-based brand Reigning Champ teamed up with Western Hydrodynamic Research, taking slightly damaged RC sweats and hand-repairing and embellishing the pieces to give them a second life.

The WHR Repair Project is loosely inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken objects (you may have seen this in repaired ceramics pieces). WHR has restored and transformed a small batch of sweatshirts into one-of-a-kind pieces. Prices range from $250-275 USD.

Chubbies Everywear Performance Pant

Chubbies Everywear Performance Pant

Affectionately referred to by fans as the Travertines, the new Everywear Performance Pant by Chubbies is the culmination of three years of customer research and wear testing. This latest iteration is designed to be worn, well, everywhere. Built using the same 90% polyester / 10% spandex material as the Everywear Shorts, the pants are perfect for running errands, hitting the trails, or all day in the office.

Outdoors

GiantMouse ACE Jutland

GiantMouse ACE Jutland

Following the success of their GM9, GiantMouse Knives, out of Michigan, launched the Jutland. The knife is a re-purposed GM8 design, but brings it to the more approachable and affordable ACE line. If you’re wondering, Jutland is a low-lying peninsula in Western Denmark and the wilderness is the perfect inspiration for a knife designed for outdoorsmen and hunters. Available in both Orange G10 and Green Canvas Micarta, the Jutland features an Elmax blade measuring 3.35″ with an overall length of 8.15″. Depending on your handle choice, it may come with a satin or stonewash finished blade.

Volcom x Matador Collaboration

Volcom x Matador Collaboration

Matador and Volcom have teamed up once again, this time with a Bark Camo collaboration. The new series uses Volcom’s Bark Camo colorway on three signature Matador products. The Freerain 22 is an ultralight, waterproof, packable backpack ready to take on all conditions. Next is the Freerain Packable Hip Pack, a 2L cross-body sling and hip pack that provides quick access and safe storage for EDC essentials. Rounding out the pairing is the Pocket Blanket, a lightweight, waterproof blanket that packs down to the size of a deck of cards and offers a clean, dry seat at beaches, trails, or the park.

BioLite Revamps Headlamp Line

BioLite Headlamps

BioLite started out producing wood-burning stoves that also doubled as a power source for developing countries and have since branched out into all manner of energy products. They released their headlamp line a few years ago and for 2022, they revamped the trio. Starting with the most affordable, the HeadLamp 325 now offers more brightness with the same run time in an ultralight package. The middle offering, the HeadLamp 425 is now upgraded to USB-C charging (from micro USB), has two new light modes, and supports pass-through charging. Lastly, the HeadLamp 800 Pro is the most feature-rich offering and now offers increased beam distance, better run time, and an expanded reserve mode.

BioLite BaseCharge and SolarPanel 100

BioLite BaseCharge and SolarPanel 100

We caught a glimpse of BioLite’s largest and most ambitious project, the BaseCharge, at Summer OR this summer. Now, it has officially launched and is shipping to customers. Available in two sizes, the 600 and 1500, the BaseCharge is a line of high-capacity lithium-ion power stations designed to deliver efficient, intuitive, and easy-to-use power for off-grid customers whether that demand spurs from camping, emergency, mobile office, or DIY projects.

An internal AC inverter gives users a wall outlet wherever they go. In addition, users can plug into an array of DC ports, USB-A and USB-C, as well as Power Delivery at a full 100W rating. The easy-to-read dashboard display calculates inputs, outputs, and remaining battery life in real time.

In addition to the 622W and 1521W BaseCharge stations, BioLite has also released the SolarPanel 100, a compact, foldable, 100-watt solar panel that can pair with the BaseCharge for a full solar generator system. Up to four SolarPanels can be daisy-chained to produce up to 400 watts of power, capable of charging a BaseCharge 1500 in as little as four hours. Alternatively, users can use the SolarPanel in standalone mode, offering direct charging to devices via the integrated USB-C and USB-A ports.

Orbitkey Sanitizer Holder

Orbitkey Sanitizer Holder

In early 2020, just five weeks into the pandemic, the Orbitkey team designed and shipped the original Sanitizer holder. This month, they revisited it and came up with a new version. This time, it has been redesigned into a beautiful aluminum bottle and is available in three finishes: black, silver and blush. Designed as a 50ml pump, it’s suitable to dispense liquid and gel-based sanitizers. And it comes with an Orbitkey Clip attachment so you always have cleanser within reach.

Tactile Turn Slim Side Click

Tactile Turn Slim Side Click

Ever since the original Side Click release, customers have been asking for a slim version, especially after seeing what a more narrow version might look like, with the Slim Bolt Action. Two years later, after much refinement and engineering, the team at Tactile Turn is ready to announce the all-new Slim Side Click. Instead of just producing a slimmer body, they also modified the flat spring to maintain the familiar action, as well as redesigned the clip for a sleeker, tapered appearance and switched to a single screw design for deeper pocket carry.

The new Slim Side Click measures just 0.365″ in diameter (compared to 0.43″) and is available in three body lengths and refill styles – Standard (5.8″), Short (5.3″), and Mini (4.6″). In addition, it can be had in four core metals – titanium, bronze, copper, and zirconium. It is available now for purchase.

Tactile Turn Trailhead

Tactile Turn Trailhead

Tactile Turn’s Seasonal Releases are a true win-win situation for both the company and the public. It’s a chance for the team to flex their creative muscles and produce pens inspired by an activity, sport, or theme. Though limited, the Seasonal Releases are available for purchase during a lengthy period, ensuring anyone interested has a chance to purchase.

Trailhead is the Summer 2022 release. Inspired by the great outdoors, pulling inspiration from hiking shoes, backpacks, tents, fishing gear, and nature itself, the pen is based on the new Slim Side Click. It comes with a speckled Cerakote body and a redesigned clip with a special and on-brand laser engraved design. It is available in three lengths until October 30, 2022.

GiantMouse GM9 & GMP9

GiantMouse GM9 & GMP9

The GM line can be thought of as Vox and Ansø’s no-holds-barred studio, a playground where they can let all their creative juices and ideas run free. With their latest release, the GM9, aka “The Tantukko”, they applied their distinct style for their take on a modern Nordic Tanto folder. A hollow grind is the prominent feature on the main edge while a secondary flat grind at the tip gives the user the best of both worlds – piercing ability and a main slim edge for slicing.

The GM9 is a liner lock folder featuring a 20CV blade that measures 3.4″ long with a thickness of 0.138″, a PVD bronze handle, and weighs 5.3 oz. It is limited to 400 numbered pieces and once it’s sold out, it will be discontinued forever. For an extra level of exclusivity, GiantMouse produced exactly 200 units of the Pirate Edition (GMP9) which sports a black-out stealthy aesthetic and swaps the bronze handles for titanium and the titanium backspacer for bronze. These sold out quickly after the drop.

Orbitkey Limited Edition Star Wars Desk Mats

Orbitkey Limited Edition Star Wars Desk Mats

The team from Australia has previously dazzled us with their Star Wars key organizers release and for August, they are back with a final installment. This time, the creative team focused on their Desk Mats, coming up with two designs sure to please fans. The all-new, limited edition Desk Mats were inspired by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Dark Lord, Darth Vader.

Each mat complements the wardrobe and weapons of the respective hero and villain and features a unique foil embossed detail within the toolbar depicting their lightsabers. The Obi-Wan Desk Mat features brown vegan leather and a taupe felt base, while Darth Vader’s desk mat pays homage to his stealth silhouette with an all-black vegan leather surface. Each design is available in two sizes: Medium and Large.

WaterField Designs Essential Collection

WaterField Designs Essential Collection

WaterField Designs released four new bags, as part of their Essential Collection, during the month of August. Starting with the Essential Duffel, the team out of SF released a new bag each week.

The Duffel measures 15.5 x 11 x 7 inches and holds just under 20L. Foam inserts are used to distribute weight evenly and create structure, allowing the bag to stand on its own. It’s constructed of 1680-denier ballistic nylon and is water and abrasion resistant and colorfast. Four hidden connection loops also allow the user to attach an optional strap.

For their second drop, WaterField applied their Essential lens to the Messenger Laptop Bag. It’s designed to hold a 14-inch MacBook Pro, Microsoft Surface Laptop 4, or any notebook up to 14 inches. The exterior boasts 1050-denier black ballistic nylon and a gold liner makes it easy to find items in the interior. A wide zippered front pocket with two interior pockets and key tether is a perfect home for accessories, while a YKK waterproof zipper keeps contents dry. Two magnetic Fidlock buckles secure the main flap and a rear grab handle and suitcase passthrough round out the convenience features.

The Crossbody Pouch is meant to serve as relief for overstuffed pockets. Measuring 8.25 x 6.25 x 2.5 inches with a volume of 2.1 liters, the sling is initially available in four colorways. The main compartment is large enough to fit an iPad Mini and a front zippered pocket and open front pocket allows you to access frequently used items.

The final member of the Essential Collection is the Backpack. Designed to fit a 16-inch MacBook Pro or similarly sized device, the Essential Backpack measures 15.75 x 11 x 6 inches with a volume of 17L. It’s made of 1680D black ballistic nylon that is colorfast and offers abrasion resistance. Firm and lightweight foam on the sides and bottom protects contents, adds structure, and distributes the weight evenly. As a bonus, it allows the backpack to stand upright when set down. An interior zippered pocket stows valuables while a horizontal zippered front pocket allows quick access to items, and includes an attached key tether. YKK waterproof zippers keep contents dry and a suitcase handle passthrough and leather-lined grab handle make transitions through the airport a breeze.

The bags are all made in the USA and are available for purchase now.

At Carryology, we know a thing or two about collaborations. Simply put, the best collabs happen when worlds collide and each partner bring their best features to the table. When it works, it’s magnificent, but when it doesn’t, it can feel like a let down.

‘Collaboration’ is thrown around far too regularly, and there is a big difference between sticking a logo on a product, and working together to create something unique. We were excited to see apparel brand Norse Projects and Canadian Born artist Geoff McFetridge pair up to create a line that is both fashion forward and technically advanced.

McFetridge has a reputation for breaking boundaries, and he has famously worked across multiple disciplines. Now partnering for the second time with Norse Projects the concept for this collection is simple: the farther you go the deeper it gets.

We take a look at our top five items from the collection.

Norse Projects x Geoff McFetridge Faces Crew Sweat

Sometimes, you just want a comfortable sweater (jumper if you’re of British inclination!). At the end of a day on the trail, as you sip a beverage, comfort is key. Comfort doesn’t have to be sloppy though, and the Faces Crew Sweat has been my most worn sweater this summer.

100% Portuguese cotton, with ribbed trims to keep the cool air at bay, you won’t want to take this off. The Faces embroidery is unique and is a conversation starter, like much of McFetridge’s work. This is an upgrade to your decades old dorm sweater, and you’ll feel all the better for wearing it.

Norse Projects x Geoff McFetridge Tech Cap

I’ll be honest, I usually struggle with baseball style hats. My large head isn’t conducive to the chic look that you see in all of the ads! However, this tech cap is everything that I’ve wanted in a cap for years. Impressively light weight, with a nylon finish that repels water, this long billed hat keeps the sun off your face and the sweat out of your eyes.

I’ve been surprised at just how much I’ve used this hat, it has come paddle boarding, hiking, to the beach, and of course just around town. Aesthetically, it’s subtle and charming with the same Faces graphic on the front, and a retro inspired “McTechridge” printed logo on the rear. Easily adjustable at the back tab, and rather packable, this one should live in your bag!

Norse Projects x Geoff McFetridge Technical Tote

Speaking of bags, we were obviously going to get excited about a technical tote. Featuring original artwork on both sides, this is the packable tote, elevated. It packs down into its own internal floating pocket, and it is the very definition of lightweight. This is an excellent grocery bag, beach bag, stuff-in-your pocket-in-case-you-need-it-bag and I’ve come to love the stretchy nature of this nylon tote. It’s even become a laundry bag in a pinch! It can hold more than you think and can either be slung over your shoulder, or held at your side by the grab handles. Snap tabs give you more security when needed and the aluminium hardware on the strap is high quality. This is one of those set it and forget it type pieces, and when I’m not actively using it it lives in my drivers side door, or at the base of another bag. Thanks to the lack of weight, it’s a no-brainer to bring with you.

Norse Projects x Geoff McFetridge Peter Twill Vest

This isn’t just your standard vest, it is an Italian made, innovative workhorse. Vests, in my opinion, are an underrated layer. They can work with any outfit, giving you a little extra coverage without having to lug a full jacket around. However, the benefits of layering aside, what’s unique about this Peter Twill Vest isn’t just its form factor, but rather what is under the hood.

This insulation, known as CashPad®, is made from recycled cashmere and wool sweaters. Not only are those two materials known for their excellent insulation properties, but with this vest, you’re stopping them ending up in a landfill. An elegant solution to a global problem that we all face. Covered in a healthy midweight cotton twill, this vest is both comfortable and robust, and will serve you well on your own adventures of self discovery as McFetridge intended. Large pockets hold your journal or EDC comfortably, and the branding is subtle, much like the tech cap. The Twill vest is the epitome of NP X GM’s combination of function and fashion.

Norse Projects x Geoff McFetridge Tech Short

Not all running shorts are created equal, and these Tech Shorts sit atop the pile with their lightweight style and packability. At first glance, these might look like a standard pair of running shorts, or even daily drivers, but once you have these in hand, you realise that they are a different type of short.

Similarly to the tote, these are unbelievably light weight, feature a nylon outer and polyester compression inner. Side splits, elasticated waistband and quick drying materials make these perfect travel shorts or one-bag-traveler friendly. While they may not get you into a fancy restaurant, they’ll pull duty anywhere else from the beach to the office. They also pack into their back pocket, making them perfect to stow with you in case an impromptu game of pickleball breaks out when you’re least expecting it. The lightweight nature of these is perfect for blisteringly hot days, and I’ve kept them on for most of the summer!

Norse Projects have always created unique products in an incredibly crowded space, and they’ve also chosen well in their partnerships. Full of thoughtful touches in both design and delivery (each swing tag comes with a set of stickers from the collection), these five products are just a small preview of this excellent collection. Both stylish and reliable, this collection encourages you to go further and deeper on your adventures.

Gura Gear Launches Their First Roll-Top: The Kiboko City Commuter 18L+ https://www.carryology.com/liking/gura-gear-rolltop-kiboko-city-commuter/ Tue, 23 Aug 2022 19:10:12 +0000 https://www.carryology.com/?p=82772 As with most categories of consumer products these days, there is a plethora of camera bags....

The post Gura Gear Launches Their First Roll-Top: The Kiboko City Commuter 18L+ appeared first on Carryology - Exploring better ways to carry.

]]>
As with most categories of consumer products these days, there is a plethora of camera bags. Honestly, as a photographer, I find it to be too many. Just as I begin to bed into a new set up, how it works, and what nuances there are, I’m bombarded with the latest and greatest that I must have. Honestly, it’s tiring. However, occasionally, there is a camera bag that really does get your attention. Sometimes it’s the access, sometimes it’s the weight, or sometimes it’s the materials. For Gura Gear’s new Kiboko City Commuter 18L+, it has the trifecta.

When it comes to carrying expensive camera gear, I have three key criteria that must be met: Durability/Protection, Functionality, Materials. How does the Kiboko City Commuter 18L+ do here?

Materials

One of the biggest selling points of the Gura Gear line is their use of excellent materials. Infact, they were one the first bag companies to use Dimension Polyant® X-PAC® in their products. On the Kiboko City Commuter+ they use VX21, the climate neutral fabric from the manufacturer. A 210 denier face fabric is low stretch, waterproof, and backed with a 50 denier taffeta backing. It is a fabric that is balanced well between weight and durability.

These are obviously good properties for a camera bag, when you want your gear reliably protected so that you can focus on the job at hand and capture the shots rather than worrying about if your thousands of dollars of equipment are safe from the weather. I think VX21 is a great choice for a camera bag intended for city use too. City shooting often involves chucking your gear down on abrasive surfaces at a moments notice and VX21 can take that kind of abuse without flinching.

Elsewhere on the City Commuter you’ll find excellent hardware from Fidlock®. Their magnetic fasteners are very satisfying to use. Not only do they provide great tactile relief, their engagement is very audible and allows you to be sure that your bag is closed. There are two on the rolltop, one internally for the laptop sleeve, and one on the adjustable sternum strap. Fidlock and VX21 are a great aesthetic pairing too, not just a functional one. Plus, there is a premium leather grab handle that sits atop the back panel and is well positioned for a quick grab at any given moment.

Durability & Protection

When it comes to protection, the Kiboko City Commuter feels very robust. Protection for camera gear doesn’t have to mean a hard case, and in the last few years there has been a great step forward on internal camera “cubes” or built in protection. In the city commuter that is very much the case with their fully customisable camera compartment. With a variety of different sized dividers, you can make this work for almost any setup comfortably.

I carried two full frame Mirrorless cameras with lenses attached, along with two more prime lenses. I don’t think it would hold a mounted super tele zoom, but you’re unlikely to use that in an urban setting anyway. Your mileage may vary based on your camera loadout, but the main compartment is a healthy size at 11” x 11” x 4”. The depth is critical to your gear’s protection, nothing sticks out just above the dividers which is historically a pet peeve of mine as it can either lead to damage or hot spots when carrying. The dividers themselves are a happy medium between rigid and flexible, and thanks to the velcro panels mounted in the middle of each divider, you should have no problem making it fit your workflow.

The laptop sleeve is on the wall of the rear entry clamshell, and is one of the cleanest I have encountered while reviewing bags. This sleeve can technically hold both a 16” MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro 12.9”, however in reality I only find myself using one or the other rather than both. However, it’s great to know that the City Commuter can accommodate both and keep them protected. The Tablet sleeve is fleece lined to avoid scratches and both are secured by the Fidlock® closure I mentioned earlier. On the front of the sleeve are two large zippered mesh pockets, the natural spot for your hard-drives, card readers, and charging bricks.

Functionality

Personally, this is where I find good camera bag separate themselves from the rest of the pack. It’s easy to attempt to cram in a plethora of features that might sound great on the marketing pages, but don’t necessarily translate to good functionality. After all, if you’re using a camera bag for professional work, speed and efficiency are key, particularly when on the move.

Thankfully, the Gura gear does this well, the quick access side entry isn’t usually a favourite feature of mine, but on a smaller 18L bag, it really works quite well. It makes sense that it would work on a smaller volume, as you aren’t swinging an extra 20lbs off your shoulder like you would on a 30L plus bag. The side entry door does include a mesh pocket for your lens cap, I absolutely love this feature, it saves me frantically searching my pockets before I move to the next location.

The Fidlock® access point for the roll-top are quick and easy to engage, giving you access to an extra 7”/4L of storage. The closure here is more magnet magic which makes access and closure very quick. This small rectangular compartment does have elasticated mesh slip pockets which are designed for filters and lens caps, however I found myself using this space for accoutrement associated with shooting in the city, such as batteries (which I carry in an extra pouch), straps, and a rocket blower. On top of that I can comfortably stick a raincoat or extra layer. Essentially thanks to the roll-top, I can adjust based on my needs for that day’s shooting.

Aside from the main features of this camera bag, the Gura Gear Kiboko City Commuter 18L+ is full of small thoughtful features that enhance your user experience. The two vertical front pockets aren’t just places to dump gear, but instead they are full of clever features for your safety. There is an RFID pocket for your wallet and passport and a dedicated AirTag pocket so that you can keep track of your gear at all times as well as lockable zippers for the main compartment. The vertical pockets also house a key loop, four small zip pockets and two elasticated slip pockets. During my testing I found it easy to separate the two vertical pockets for different tasks. I used the left side for the accessories that you can get for the Kiboko (Rain cover, tripod straps, and hip belt) and the right side for keys, wallet, knife and pen. During my use of the Kiboko, I very quickly got used to how this bag works. As I mentioned earlier, efficiency is key when working on the go, and the backpack excels here.

Comfort

Comfort is somewhat subjective, some of you reading will not want to feel like you’re wearing anything when carrying a bag, while some of you will overpack and be prepared for the discomfort that comes with that. Well, thankfully I think the Kiboko is a good middle ground. Firstly, it’s a lightweight bag at 3lbs 11oz before you put anything in it, particularly considering its feature set. Secondly, the improved shoulder straps from their previous bags are really very pleasant and work well with the 3D spacer mesh back panel. Of course, like all bags if you overload this bag you’ll have hot-spots, but for the intended load and size of this bag, discomfort wasn’t an issue at all. In-between the three sections of the back panel, you’ll also find a luggage pass through for when you take this on the road. The straps also have magnetic strap keepers, which may look like overkill at first glance, but in use it is a joy. I wish all of my backpacks had them now!

Gura Gear were highly commended by our readers and writers in the Carry Awards VII for their previous line. With this new design, and thoughtful updates, could the Kiboko City Commuter 18L+ be another contender? We think that if you’re looking for a smaller camera bag that is tough, functional, and reliable, you won’t go wrong with this well designed bag and it is now live on Kickstarter at discounted launch prices!

Thanks to our friends at Gura Gear for being a curated sponsor.

]]>
Black Ember are a name synonymous with quality and innovation within the Carry community. Hailing from San Francisco, they’ve been creating products that have won plaudits within both the industry and from their readers.

Now they’re back with a new product, The Dex Duffel. This is designed for the eco-conscious traveller who wants both incredible products, and environmental responsibility. Available in both 30 and 45L sizes, the Dex Duffel has the instantly recognisable Black Ember aesthetic, and is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Under the hood, it has all the hallmarks of excellent design and construction.

Materials and Aesthetic

Black Ember are the first brand in the world to partner with Cordura® and use their new Cordura® re/corTM RN66. This is the first 100% recycled nylon from the fabric powerhouse, and as recycled nylon six, six it has the same incredible durability qualities that Cordura® is known for. In hand that means you can trust this bag to take years of abuse and likely look no different than the day you bought it. Paired with laser cut hypalon panels and YKK® AquaGuard zippers, the Dex is ready to travel.

The back panel has a high density frame sheet that flexes with you on the move and is supported by the stowable 3D shoulder straps made from an EVA foam that are both comfortable and supportive. A mixture of Fidlock® V buckles and G-hooks are used on the duffle to great effect, and make opening the bag and transforming carry methods an efficient and satisfying experience.

Aesthetically, the Dex Duffel is as clean and streamlined as you would expect from Black Ember. Their understated and urban style make for great crossover bags that carry just as well in hand as they do on your back. Tidy attachment points, matte zippers, and clever handles all contribute to a look that makes a statement, but quietly.

Functional Design

Like all of Black Embers products, the Dex Duffel series aren’t just about looking good. They are incredibly well thought out products that are a joy to use.

The Dex Duffels are best described as a myriad of clever pockets and expanding volume. They really are tardis’ when it comes to all that they can hold in a polished package. The wide opening is reminiscent of a doctor’s bag, and the full length AquaGuard zipper is folded and secured by two magnetic Fidlock® V-buckles. Once your bag is closed, it stays that way until you need to have it open again. This easy view and easy access volume isn’t just a bottomless pit, but rather a curated selection of zippered pockets for all of your EDC and travel needs. These line the wall of the main cavity to allow you room for packing cubes and your primary carry.

Once secured, the rear of the bag has a suspended laptop sleeve, keeping your tech protected on the move. Behind this sleeve is where you’ll find the aforementioned shoulder straps, which can be swiftly stowed to refine the look of the Dex even further. When in use, the shoulder straps also have a sternum strap with magnetic Fidlock® closure. Once you’ve used one of these straps, it’s hard to go back to the analog closure we all grew up with!

On either side of the Dex are useful exterior pockets which are well sized to hold a water bottle, jacket, or other quick grab item. There are some slip pockets for organisation and magnetic key leash also, providing quick access on the go.

At the top of the 45L Dex, under the Fidlock® V Buckle, there is your boarding kit. This separate pouch stores everything that you could need on the move, from your iPad, to your headphones, and not forgetting your passport, this quick grab kit will likely become your best travel companion.

On the bottom of the Dex is a shoe pocket with space for a pair of shoes and a second zippered pocket for your Dopp kit. The two grab handles either side of the main zipper remain flush to the body of the duffle until you deploy them. By a short and sharp tug, these straps come to life and become your comfortable hand carry in an instant.

The 30L model is more geared towards your EDC crowd. With enough room for your daily loadout, and perhaps a little extra, this is the perfect size for running from the office to the gym with one bag to take all that you would need. While the 45L is definitely geared towards those weekend trips or short business trips. Whichever size you go for, you’re going to end up with an incredibly well designed and constructed bag. We have always been inspired and impressed with how Black Embers innovative designs are pushing the envelope in the carry space, and we’re delighted to see that tradition continue with the Dex Duffles.

The Dex Duffle is now available for pre-order on Kickstarter.

Recently, we had the pleasure of doing a long term review of the magnificent Racing Atelier Rucksack #1. This masterpiece in design and engineering is traditionally very hard to come by. From its thoughtful design to curated materials, the packs from the design house are nothing short of a unicorn in the carry world.

Rucksack #3

And now, Leander Angerer has partnered with ARTS&SCIENCE Japan to give customers the chance to own 2022 Racing Atelier pieces (available exclusively in Japan) before they become available as custom orders the Bavarian brand.

Rucksack #4

Situated in the Bavarian Alps, Racing Atelier carve out their unique brand vibe by pairing modern fabrics in combination with natural materials, like locally sourced vegetable tanned leather. These modern-meets-heritage creations are the calling card of RA’s design and one of the many reasons they are so sought after. From the hand rolled leather to the custom cord work, these carry pieces are truly unique.

And in this new project, having previously worked on his Rucksack #1 with Dyneema® and Konbu®, Leander now uses Challenge Sailcloth Ultra® 800 to pair with his sumptuous leather.

Duffel

There is something special about such a thoughtful pairing of leather and modern synthetic fabrics, with this Ultra® 800 collection, Leander has moved on from the often lauded Dyneema® in favour of the new woven synthetic, which increases durability. These packs aren’t for fast fashion or conversation topics, they are designed to be used and abused in the truest sense of the word. RA’s background is in the alps, the home of hiking, mountaineering, and biking. They are meant to be used, which is where Leanders fabric choices are so crucial. Leather will soften and break into the user, while the face fabric, Ultra® 800 in this case, will shave weight, provide weather resistance and maintain structure.

Weekender #3

Racing Atelier makes special bags, and with this new collection, Leander is showcasing the cutting edge of Carry design and manufacturing. If you want to break into the world of bespoke backpacks, there’s never been a better time.

The collection includes Rucksacks #3 & #4, Weekenders #4 & #3, and a duffle bag too. For store locations and pop-up dates, please check the schedule here.
