Autumn is probably my favourite season, so over the last few months I’ve been testing the Best Fall Products from Huckberry!

Flint & Tinder Flannel Lined Waxed Trucker

The waxed trucker jacket is Autumn in a coat. I’m a self confessed jacket fiend, and while I love them all, autumn is the season where you need a jacket-of-all-trades. It can’t be too warm, nor too lightweight, and while it doesn’t need to hold off torrential downpours, it should be able to battle against a surprise shower while you work away chopping wood or manning the firepit.

The wax trucker from Flint & Tinder is a wallet friendly and USA made workhorse. It’ll only look better the more you use it. With yearly care (re-waxing!) this will be with you for foliage seasons to come. The flannel lining keeps the cold breezes at bay, while the hard wearing waxed cotton outer from New Jersey will tackle any task thrown at it. Peregrine Waxed Bexley Jacket

If you’re after more satorial style in your waxed outerwear, why not head over the pond to England. With over 220 years experience of making waxed cotton clothing, the Peregrine family are one of the original makers of outdoor gear. In 1956 they moved into retail as well as manufacturing, and the result is products like the Bexley. Made from Millerain cotton in the UK, this military inspired jacket will protect you from the elements and keep you looking dapper at the same time. A handful of useful pockets (two front drop pockets and a snap chest pocket) are all that’s needed on this elegant autumn jacket.

Billy Reid keeps things simple. They’re a favourite brand of mine and with good reason; they do the basics but they do them really, really well. Made in Peru, this collaboration with Huckberry is a hooded variant of their best selling Dover sweatshirt. Luxurious cotton, with cow leather elbow pads and detailing, this steps up your hoodie game immediately. Perfect for lazy Sundays or when you want to keep the style high and comfort close.

Relwen Windzip Hoodie

The team at Carry HQ are fans of Relwen. We reviewed their Windzip Jacket last year and we’re excited to see them bring out the hooded version this autumn. 60g of down alternative (polyester) insulation stove off the cold, and there’s just enough stretch to keep it moving with you! This has become a “go-to” of mine on chilly morning walks when it gets into the forties. It’s great for travel too, as it is stylish enough to pull double duty about town or at dinner.

Flint and Tinder 10 Year Hoodie

If value is the name of the game, look no further than the 10 year hoodie. Wellen Seawool Fisherman Sweater

Perhaps you’re more old-school in your style? This fisherman sweater is just for you! Made from recycled plastic bottles and pulverised oyster shells (!), not only does it look good, you can feel good wearing it too. The classic cable knit style fits any wardrobe, and it’s wonderfully cosy too. I wore this around Iceland for a week, and it felt like a trusty blanket against the harsh wind. This is the classic autumn/winter sweater, but upgraded and doing its bit for the environment.

Flint and Tinder Quilted Flannel Lined Bone Button Western Shirt

All good wardrobes need at least one or two “comfy” shirts. You know the ones I mean, they’re just thick enough to wear on the days when you don’t need a jacket, and stylish enough to take out in the evening to keep cooler temps at bay. Well this quilted western shirt is a perfect candidate! Classic western styling is paired with a flannel interior, and quilted exterior for the quintessential autumn look. Snap closure means it goes great with a tee for brewery sundays and there are two front hand pockets well sized for your hands or EDC. It’s also slim enough to slip on under a jacket–this is one stylish midlayer.

Wellen Cord Shirt

Wellen always uses fantastic materials, and this is no different with their Cord Shirt. Using organic cotton, this soft to the touch shirt is made for the cooler months and layering. Flint and Tinder Featherweight Plaid Shirt

Not all autumnal days are cold and dreary, so sometimes you’ve got to keep it light, while maintaining that october style. This Flint and Tinder plaid is a 60/40 cotton and recycled polyester mix which takes a healthy amount of weight out of it. The cotton gives you that soft and comfortable feel next to your skin, while the recycled polyester adds to durability, temperature regulation, and odor resistance. Outerknown Blanket Shirt

Outerknown are the epitome of surf chic! The brain child of Kelly Slater and John Moore, they have a selection of products that look excellent and are sustainably made. Their flagship piece, the blanket shirt, is an excellent introduction to a brilliant brand. This Huckberry only colourway blends with everything in your wardrobe and is my favourite transitional layer. It works excellently on its own on warmer days, and is a perfect midlayer for when the temperature really drops. Made from 100% organic cotton, this heavyweight knit is also a great travel layer, as it’s wrinkle resistant. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more versatile shirt. This same style is available for women too!

Proof  72 Hour Merino Tee

I took two of these t-shirts with me to Iceland for a five day trip. I slept in them, I hiked in them, I went to dinner in them. You know how much we love merino at Carryology thanks to all of its temperature regulating, odor resistant properties , and the Proof Tee is what a good merino Tee should look like. The 87% 16.5 micron merino wool is reinforced by 13% nylon. This does two really important things–it helps the t-shirt hold its shape and adds to the long term durability of the tee (think no pilling!). The 72 hour tee could easily be called the 96 hour tee if you ask me or maybe even more! The 72 hour tee does run small, so size up if you like a looser or more relaxed fit.

Forty Five Supima Crew Tee

The Forty Five Supima Crew Tee is like your beloved high school t-shirt, apart from it not being 18 years old and it doesn’t have any holes in it! It is incredibly comfortable from the first wear thanks to the 100% USA grown Supima cotton and it’s such a good basic. The simple design comes in a whole multitude of colors, and it’s preshrunk so you don’t have to worry about his becoming misshapen. If you love this as much as I do, you can even pick up 3 tees for $95. The Forty Five Supima tee is the perfect foundation for any good autumn outfit. It comes in a long sleeve version too!  

Pants

Flint & Tinder 365 Pant

These are jack-of-all-trade pants. 98% cotton, 2% spandex for just enough stretch and extra comfort. The 8oz fabric is a nice midweight that makes these useful year round–hence the name! These are also preshrunk like the Supima Tee and they are good to go out of the box. I found this to fit true to size, and they come in both straight and slim cut depending on your preference. The 365 pants are extremely comfortable and you’ll want to keep them on all season long.

Relwen Utility Windpant

The Relwen Utility Windpant are, for me, the perfect pair of travel sweatpants. They are lightweight, they are stretchy, and they don’t look like you’ve just come from the gym. You could hike in these, you could work out in these, and you can definitely lounge in these. Lightly water resistant, they’re ready for adventure, and the ribbing at the ankles is both comfortable and keeps them out of seasonal muck. A zippered rear pocket is great for when you pop out quickly and only need your keys, and the mesh lining gives you enough warmth without overheating during activity. If I was traveling, this would be my second pair of pants as they are so versatile. 

Proof Rover Pant

The best compliment I can give these pants is that I’ve been wearing my original pair for over two years now. They’ve traveled with me all over the world, and while they might be a little stained from some adventures, they are still some of my favourites. They fit a really nice sweet spot between jean and work pants, so they’re great for days on the road or getting stuck in to the garden work. A mix of cotton, canvas, and lycra, the Rover pant is the updated hard wearing pant work pant, that just happens to look great on a night out too. The pigment dyeing is unique too, these wear in like a pair of denim jeans and get their own style/patina the more you wear them. I can’t recommend these highly enough, I have three pairs!

Relwen Supply Pant

Rewlen’s whole catalogue is inspired by vintage military clothing, but with a modern twist. The Supply pant is the updated standard issue military pant and it’s a doozy. Made from 97% cotton twill (with a similar softness to moleskin), and with a 3% spandex stretch, these are hearty, comfortable pants. Slightly fitted, the supply pant have adjustable button side tabs (just as they would in the 50’s) so you can make a quick adjustment on the go depending on your comfort (or consumption!) level. These are made for cosy days around the firepit. 

Footwear

Luca Terra Low Sneakers

Smart sneakers, or luxury sneakers, have always been hard to find for me. They’re either far too ostentatious, or incredibly overpriced. However, they do have a place in the wardrobe for the days when you want to be a bit more pulled together than your Air Force Ones, but not full dress shoe territory. The Luca Terra Low are the answer to my prayers. Stylish, simple, and timeless, I’ve worn them constantly since they arrived. Portuguese made, these have a suede upper with fully lined leather interior. The gum soles are subtle and will wear well over time. They also pack really flat, so I’ve taken mine on my travels and been glad to have them with me. They’re smart enough to wear to a nicer dinner, but casual enough to pull on for a day at the brewery.

Greys Outdoor Slipper Boot

The slippers you’ve been waiting for. A wool and synthetic upper keeps your feet toasty while regulating the temperature (and the odour!) and a rubber sole means you can nip in and out of the house without changing your shoes. They’re low profile compared to other slippers, and the leather tab on the heel makes for easy on and off. Sometimes, you don’t need fancy features, you just need a shoe to work.

ON The Roger Advantage

This is the first pair of ON’s that I’ve had the pleasure of trying. I’ve heard all the rave reviews, but I was skeptical, particularly of that funky looking sole! Well, the Roger Advantage is here if like me, you need easing in to the ON world. These are like updated Stan Smiths. They have a classic silhouette that works both on the pickleball court and off it, and the touches of colour (depending on your choice) make them more stylish for urban settings. The CloudTec® cushioning is really quite impressive, and I’ve had no problem wearing these for a full day out. These can pull double duty, I’ve gone running and played tennis in them, so they’re a great candidate for travel too.

Easymoc

The clue is in the name, these are easy to wear USA made moccasins. They’re wonderfully well made by hand in Maine, they use glorious leather for the upper from Horween in Chicago, the Vibram camp sole is great for around the house and garden, while the Ortholite® comfortable footbed is primed for happy feet. These are the kind of shoes that you didn’t know you needed until you have a pair, your feet will thank you! 

Huckberry x Danner Waxed Canvas Danner Light

We’ve talked before how Huckberry collaborations are always well chosen, and that story continues here with the updated classic Danner Light. These Gore-Tex lined waterproof boots are one of Danners oldest designs, and are USA made in Portland. The Huckberry update to this boot? The same waxed canvas from New Jersey that you’ll find above on the Trucker Jacket. Just like the jacket, the canvas breaks in over time, and it’ll have its own unique patina before you know it. The recraftable Vibram® Christy outsole is a versatile one for both casual and more serious adventures. These boots are a worthy investment piece.

Accessories

1733 Sidepack

The three way carry 1733 Sidepack was made to come on adventures with you. Made from VX07 X-PAC, and complemented by YKK® AquaGuard zippers this nifty little pack can take all kinds of abuse! Weather over your shoulder, around your waist, or in your hand–this 7L sling can carry all that you need for an afternoon out. I’ve taken camera, rain shell, and an e-reader comfortably in the sidepack. The rear wall has basic organisation for your EDC, while the outside of the pack has daisy chain attachment loops for multi-tools, flashlights and any other adventure gear you want close at hand. There is a small zipper pocket on the front of the sidepack, but your mileage may vary based on how full the main compartment is. The top lid of the pack has a removable shock cord which is the perfect spot for gloves, caps, or even another layer. The sidepack is a great addition for your EDC carry.
